MOUNDRIDGE, Kan. — A Butler County man was killed in an accident in McPherson County Thursday morning.
The Kansas Highway Patrol says 56-year-old Jeffrey Killgore of El Dorado had stopped to help a person involved in a minor incident in the northbound lanes of I-135 when he was hit by a pickup driven by 41-year-old Sergio Moreno of Wichita.
Killgore was pronounced dead at the scene. Moreno was taken to St. Francis Regional Medical Center in Wichita with suspected minor injuries. The northbound lanes of I-135 were closed for several hours while authorities investigated the crash.
The accident happened around 6:20 a.m. about a mile north of Moundridge.
