New Beginnings continues to serve homeless

Posted Mar 31, 2020 2:46 PM

HUTCHINSON, Kan —New Beginnings is taking steps to make sure they can accommodate the needs of the homeless during the COVID-19 pandemic.

According to Director Shara Gonzales, the shelter is currently housing about ten people per night. Beds have been separated and plastic has been hung between beds for extra protection. The transitional housing is open but they ask that clients limit guests and those guests will be screened.

Gonzales also says the Meadowlark facility which is empty at this time will be available for those who have or feel they may have COVID-19 to self-quarantine and shelter in place if they have nowhere to go.

The shelter is in need of supplies. If you can help out they are in need of wipes and disinfectant, laundry detergent, disposable gloves and large trash bags.

You can get more information on donating at newbeginnings-inc.org or mail in a donation to PO Box 2504 Hutchinson Kansas 67504.
