HUTCHINSON, Kan. — A local brewery is doing its part to provide hand sanitizer. Salt City Brewing’s Steve Petermann is using his facility on Main to distill the product.

According to his Facebook page, Petermann reached out to several entities to help make it all happen. He noted that Dave Kerr, Brad Rayll and Mike Chisam at Kansas Ethanol helped procure the necessary ethanol; and Kristopher Kefferr and Tim Woolsey donated the time and mileage to pick up the other necessary ingredients.

What’s going to happen to the sanitizer is not entirely known. Petermann says he has more than 300 gallons of the product. Petermann said on his site, “It’s not going to smell foo-fooey . . . it’s not going to be terribly gelled . . . but it will sanitize.”

Petermann says he is working with local officials to see how the product can be distributed.
