Susie ‘Darlene’ Fetter, 86, of Hutchinson, died March 22, 2020, at Hutchinson Regional Medical Center. She was born July 10, 1933, in Mullinville, to Bernard Gayle and Ruby Marie (Fisher) Sharp.

Darlene was a 1951 graduate of Paulina High School, IA. She worked as a library clerk for 20 years at Winans and Grandview Elementary Schools, both of Hutchinson.

She was a true worker of the First Christian Church in Hutchinson and very passionate for the congregation for many years. She was in charge of memorial dinners, kept attendance records, and helped with the church preschool. She was the CWF President for over 10 years.Despite giving up leadership roles in the church, every week she sent out cards for birthdays, anniversaries and sympathy to help cheer up each individual person.

On February 14, 1952, Darlene married Lawrence Eugene Fetter in Gulf Port, MS. They shared over 63 years of marriage prior to his death on November 23, 2015.

Together they volunteered countless hours at the Hutchinson Regional Medical Center gift shop.She is survived by: sons, Mark (Stacie) Fetter of Ft. Collins, CO, Rodney (Kathleen) Fetter of Mooresville, NC, and Jeff (Lisa) Fetter of Wichita; granddaughters, Katherine ‘Katie’ (Kris) Meda and Kalyn Fetter; and great-grandsons, Blake Ray Meda and Derek John Meda.

Darlene was preceded in death by her parents and a stillborn sister.

Graveside service will be at Hillcrest Cemetery, Mullinville, with Pastor Bob Phipps officiating. Friends may call from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday, March 28, 2020, and 1 to 5 p.m. Sunday, March 29, 2020, at Elliott Mortuary and Crematory. There will be a memorial service later this year that will be announced by Elliott Mortuary and Crematory.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to the First Christian Church, Hutchinson, or Hutchinson Public Library, in care of Elliott Mortuary and Crematory, 1219 N. Main, Hutchinson, KS 67501.
