FAIRLAND, Okla. (AP) — A man shot and killed one man and wounded two others, including a state trooper, in far northeast Oklahoma, authorities said Wednesday.

Edwin Ball, 48, was taken into custody after he barricaded himself inside his home in Fairland, about 80 miles northeast of Tulsa near the state's borders with Missouri and Kansas, the Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation and Oklahoma Highway Patrol said in a joint statement.

Ball shot and killed Brendan Van Zwell, 25, and wounded a second man who had arrived at Ball's home Tuesday night with Ball's ex-girlfriend, the release states. Ball then barricaded himself inside for a standoff that would last several hours.

Ball was booked into the Ottawa County Jail on complaints of felony murder and shooting with intent to kill. Jail records don't indicate if Ball has an attorney to speak on his behalf.
