Posted Mar 24, 2020 9:17 PM

HUTCHINSON, Kan. — Area residents who are concerned that their driver’s license or vehicle tags are nearing expiration are getting a little extra time.

A state executive order was signed this week and extends deadlines for expiring Kansas driver’s licenses and Kansas license plates until 60 days after the expiration of the executive order. The executive order expires when the statewide State of Disaster Emergency proclamation of March 12, 2020, expires. The expiration date of the proclamation is undetermined at this time.

• Driver's licenses expiring on or after March 12, 2020, are extended for 60 days beyond the date when the executive order expires.

• Sixty-Day temporary license tags issued on or after Jan. 1, 2020, remain valid until the executive order expires.

• License plates are extended for 60 days beyond the date when the executive order expires.
