HUTCHINSON, Kan — Along with working to get classes started again, the Hutchinson USD 308 School Board took care of other matters related to the shutdown of school facilities during Monday’s meeting.

Most of the items were under the superintendent's consent agenda and included paying teachers and staff for the remainder of the school year. An emergency transportation contract with Durham School Services was also included. The agreement pays the district bus drivers and the fixed cost of the district’s lease. The cost of the agreement is just over $241,000.

The board approved the purchase of 1,090 HP Chromebooks for student use. The computers will replace four- and five-year-old laptops and Chromebooks at the high school, CTEA, HMS - 7 and HMS - 8.

Additionally, 655 of the new Chromebooks will be used in a 1-to-1 ratio for fourth and fifth grade classrooms beginning in the 2020-2021 school year. Network Management Group, Inc., was the low bidder at $312,830.
