Kansas man dies in accident at Tyson Meats plant

FINNEY COUNTY — Authorities are investigating a fatal accident at a western Kansas meat packing plant.

At 5:30 a.m. Monday, Finney County Sheriff's Deputies were dispatched to Tyson Fresh Meats, 3105 I B P Road, in Holcomb, for an industrial accident that included male employee who was not breathing, according to the sheriff's department.

When Deputies arrived, EMS was already on the scene and were preparing to transfer the employee identified as 30-year-old Kendrick Gregory of Garden City to their ambulance to transport to St. Catherines Hospital.

 Initial investigation has revealed that Gregory was doing maintenance on the Harvest Assembly Line and appears to have been pulled up by his harness against a take away belt.

A co-worker was able to cut Mr. Gregory free but he died at the hospital.
