HUTCHINSON, Kan. — A COVID-19 Question Hotline has been set up for residents of Reno County to answer the questions they have about COVID-19.

Health Department Director Nick Baldetti says the hotline was put in place to steer all questions about COVID-19 to the hotline so the business phones are free to take other calls.

The toll-free hotline kicked off Monday and will operate Monday-Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.

The number is 1-844-834-3658.

Golf course open; zoo now closed

HUTCHINSON, Kan. — With the nice weather, you can still get out and play a round of golf in Hutchinson.

Carey Park Golf Course is still open, but with some restrictions. Tee times have been spread out to every 16 minutes. The driving range is open, but access to the clubhouse is restricted to one customer at a time. The cafe is closed, but packaged food and bottled drinks are available.

Ball washers and bunker rakes have been removed and flagsticks will be sanitized every day, as will the golf carts.

Also, after being open on a limited basis, the Hutchinson Zoo has closed until further notice because of the CDC and Reno County Health Department recommendations regarding the coronavirus (COVID-19). All camps, events and rentals have been canceled or will be rescheduled.

The zoo’s staff will continue working to care for the nearly 200 animals that reside on-site. Additionally, this time will be used to complete updates and maintenance projects that are harder to accomplish with visitors in the zoo.

As with other local attractions, a deep cleaning and disinfecting will occur before the zoo reopens to the public.
