HUTCHINSON, Kan. — The Reno County Board of Commissioners declared a local public health emergency due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
The Reno County Health Department wants to assure our residents that as of 5:27 p.m. there are no confirmed cases of COVID-19 in the county. While we are currently meeting the needs of our residents, we believe there is an imminent risk to our community.
Reno County’s goal is to continue to be transparent through the process and take advantage of every available resource that may benefit our residents. By declaring a local disaster, it allows us to activate the response and recovery portion of the Reno County Emergency Operations Plan, provides increased liability coverage, and allows us access to Federal and State assistance that would otherwise be unavailable.
We continue to highly encourage Reno County residents to be dependent on health authorities to provide the most accurate information on COVID-19. It is the goal of the Reno County Health Department to inform the public of any positive COVID-19 cases in coordination with State and Local Health Officials in addition to offering the most accurate information in a timely manner.
Please practice good hygiene with frequent hand washing, proper respiratory etiquette such as coughing and sneezing into your elbow bend, limit handshakes and physical contact. Stay home if you are feeling ill and call your primary care physician to discuss your symptoms.
