HUTCHINSON, Kan. — The KDHE has issued new mandates for quarantine and isolation.

As of 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, Reno County does not have any positive cases of COVID-19.

The seriousness of slowing the spread of COVID-19 in the United States continues to be at the forefront of all efforts in Kansas. The Reno County Health Department is strongly asking for a community-wide effort in observing the state of Kansas’ mandated quarantine and isolation guidelines dated March 18, 2020, if they have traveled to any of the following areas:

· California

· Washington State

· New York

· Florida

· Counties within Colorado: Eagle, Summit, Pitkin and Gunnison

· Returned from travel internationally on or after March 15

· Returned from travel on a cruise ship or river cruise on or after March 15

You are also asked to follow the recommended quarantine and isolation guidelines if you have received notification that you had close contact with a person who received a laboratory-confirmed case of COVID-19.

It is well within the authority of the Reno County Health Officer to order individuals to be placed on enforced quarantine if there is a belief that there is a threat to public health and safety because of the infectious disease COVID-19.

Personal judgment should be exercised in limiting all non-essential social gatherings.

It is the recommendation of the Kansas Department of Health and Environment and Reno County Health Department to limit public events to under 50 persons.

Should events under the 50-person threshold take place, social distancing should be exercised as well as prudence in time spent within enclosed areas with others.

· Social distancing constitutes limiting the distance between persons to six feet when applicable and spending no more than 10 minutes within said six-foot radius.

Reno County residents are encouraged to be dependent on health authorities to provide the most accurate information on COVID-19.

It is the goal of the Reno County Health Department to inform the public of any positive COVID-19 cases in coordination with state and local health official, and offer the most accurate information in a timely manner.

Please practice good hygiene with frequent hand washing, proper respiratory etiquettes such as coughing and sneezing into your elbow bend, limit handshakes and physical contact. Stay home if you are feeling ill and call your primary care physician to discuss your symptoms.
