HUTCHINSON, Kan. — With Hutch Rec facilities closed, the Senior Center at Elmdale Park is looking for ways to continue to serve its customers. Starting Monday, senior center members will have the opportunity to purchase and pick up lunches at the center at 400 E. Ave. E. This is being done in an effort to continue providing meals while the center remains temporarily closed.
This curbside delivery lunch service will be offered on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays. Members may call the senior center at 620-663-2811 Monday through Friday, between 9 a.m. and noon, to place their lunch orders. To guarantee lunch, the order must be placed by noon the day before. Lunches will cost the regular $4 member price and be deducted from the member’s lunch card.
The first day of lunch orders for March 23 will be taken starting Thursday, March 19, from 9 a.m. to noon.
The monthly menu will be posted on the Senior Center at Elmdale Park Facebook group page and will be available on the senior center facility page at hutchrec.com. A menu is available through April 29 contingent on the number of members purchasing lunches.
Once ordered, members will be given a pick-up time between 11:30 a.m. and 12:30 p.m. Pick-up will take place on the south side of the center. In an effort to protect the health of members, senior center staff will deliver bagged meals to members’ vehicles and will wear gloves during deliveries.
Hutch Rec’s Senior Center at Elmdale Park currently serves more than 600 social members. The senior center is currently closed to the public until further notice, with staff available from 9 a.m. to noon taking phone calls and answering emails.
All ongoing activities, events, programming and group travel have been canceled during this time. Ongoing details and updates will be shared with media outlets, hutchrec.com and the Hutch Rec Facebook page.
