HUTCHINSON, Kan. — The Hutchinson Police Department released its vision statement on Facebook Wednesday.

"The Hutchinson Police Department changed the culture and mission of the department when Chief Hooper became Chief. We started with our core values and mission statement and built our foundation of who we were and what we were going to be using the core values and mission of the department. These cannot be just mere words, but who we are, how we live and conduct ourselves, and at the heart of everything we do.

"As the foundation is built, we have now started to look to the future of our agency and have built our vision statement. We are excited to share it with our great citizens, as you are the ones we serve and work together with to make our community a destination city, one we are all proud of.

"Vision statement- The Hutchinson Police Department will be an innovative, community focused police department treating everyone with respect and dignity. We are committed to providing proactive law enforcement services, focused on reducing crime, apprehending those who commit crime and enhancing the quality of life. We will be transparent while working collaboratively with our community to ensure Hutchinson is a destination city. We will continue to develop our personnel and efficiently and effectively manage our resources. We are a family, committed to every member of our community. We will protect those we serve with every fiber of our being as Hutchinson deserves nothing less."
