HUTCHINSON, Kan. —

As of 6:15 pm., Reno County does not have any positive cases of COVID-19.

It is the goal of the Reno County Health Department to inform the public of any positive COVID-19 cases in coordination with State and Local Health Officials in addition to offering the most accurate information in a timely manner.

The current recommendation of the Kansas Department of Health and Environment and Reno County Health Department to limit public events to under 50-persons regardless of the type of event.

Should events under the 50-person threshold take place, social distancing should be exercised as well as prudence in time spent within enclosed areas with others.

Social distancing constitutes limiting distance between persons to six feet when applicable and spending no more than 10 minutes within said six-foot radius.

Personal judgement should be exercised in limiting all non-essential social gatherings.

Governor Laura Kelly announced today that all Kansas public and private in-person school classes, and functions are closed through the rest of the 2019-2020 school year.

Governor Kelly also announced that effective March 23, non-essential state employees will be directed to stay home for two weeks on administrative leave. The governor stated that some state offices, such as the attorney general, the secretary of state, and the insurance commissioner, will make their own decisions.

Today, March 17, hosted by the City of Hutchinson and Hutchinson Area Chamber of Commerce, representatives from the Hutchinson Regional Healthcare System, the Hutchinson Clinic, Prairiestar Medical Center, City of Hutchinson, and the Reno County Health Department held an information town hall meeting to try and answer questions regarding COVID-19 and Reno County response. The Recording can be found on the Hutch Chamber (@HutchChamber) Facebook page, the City of Hutchinson Youtube Page: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wp-4w7KuqzI and will be rebroadcast locally on Cox channel 7 (the city channel)

We highly encourage Reno County residents to be dependent on health authorities to provide the most accurate information on COVID-19.

Please practice good hygiene with frequent hand washing, proper respiratory etiquette such as coughing and sneezing into your elbow bend, limit handshakes and physical contact. Stay home if you are feeling ill and call your primary care physician to discuss your symptoms.
