Hutchinson Animal Shelter closed

Posted Mar 17, 2020 8:20 PM

HUTCHINSON, Kan. — The Hutchinson Animal Shelter, except for limited circumstances, is closed to the public. Staff will be on-site to treat and care for the animals currently housed.

Animal control staff will respond to bites and animal calls that present a danger to the public, but will not pick up stray animals as they could potentially pass the virus after interaction with infected persons. The shelter itself will not accept stray animals during this time for the same reason. Adoptions of animals currently in the shelter will be limited as the interaction between a prospective family and pet won’t be allowed. Pet owners who think their pet may be in the shelter may check online at hutchinsonanimalservices.com or the shelter Facebook page.

You can also contact the shelter by phone at 620-694-1924. If you find that your pet is in the shelter, you may then come to claim your pet through instructions posted there. Animals will not be euthanized based on their length of stay due to these new guidelines.
