HUTCHINSON, Kan. — Debra Teufel, President and CEO of the Hutchinson/Reno County Chamber of Commerce, joined Mokhtar Matallah from Superior Boiler to talk to the City Council Tuesday about the expansion for Superior that is coming to Hutchinson.
"We knew they needed additional space," Teufel said. "We knew there was an opportunity to bring this work here. It took a few months of all of those details working out, but the result of it is great news for Hutchinson."
Matallah, the Vice-President of Engineering for Superior Boiler, said the move will allow the company to make a wider range of products in Hutchinson.
"We already manufacture a certain type of boilers," Mutallah said. "We're going to bring in another product. Along with that, we are developing new products at Superior Boiler, so it will give us a complete company that can offer all the boiler room equipment from making steam to hot water, to water treatment. The jobs are going to be from welders, pipefitters, electrical, including engineers."
The plan is for 52 jobs over the next several years, with half of them in the first year once the move is made.
