HUTCHINSON, Kan. — Hutchinson High School Career and Technical Education Academy (HCTEA) welding students recently attended the GMAW contest at NCK Tech in Beloit, Kansas.
The competition was sponsored by Caterpillar and AGCO Corporation. Students from all over Kansas, Nebraska, Colorado and Missouri completed two different size weldments and took a knowledge test for welding, inspection, fabrication and math.
Andrew Neal took first place and Christian Rodriquez finished third. In addition to those two placings in the top three, a number of students placed in the top 25.
Each school also receives a score from the combined scores of each individual from their team. HCTEA took second and fourth, respectively.
