HUTCHINSON, Kan — Three more schools in Hutchinson USD 308 are expressing interest in becoming part of the Kansans Can School Redesign Project.

Both HMS-7 and HMS-8 middle schools and Morgan Elementary School will present letters of intent to the school board during their meeting on Monday. The three schools would join four others in the district who are at some stage of the redesign process.

If all goes as planned, the three schools would present their formal proposals to the school board for their approval in January of 2021.

Also on Monday, the board will take action on a proposal to install security glass in the entryways at HMS-7 and HMS-8 middle schools, along with Allen, Faris, and Graber Elementary schools. The bid from Sturgeon Glass totals $164,900.

Capital outlay funds will pay for 50% of the project with the rest coming from a safe and secure state grant.

Monday’s meeting of the Hutchinson USD 308 School Board begins at 6 p.m. at the district offices at 1520 N. Plum.
