Jeannette ‘Janet’ Carol Fail passed away peacefully on February 28, 2020, at Sterling Village, Sterling, KS, from natural causes, at the age of 97.  She was born July 23, 1922, in Cloud County, KS, to Homer and Bertha (Detrixhe) LeClair.

Janet was a 1936 graduate of Concordia High School and Salt City Business College, Hutchinson.  She worked for Olive Beech at Boeing before she married Ronald Fail in Wichita, KS, on April 25, 1942.  They shared over 34 years of marriage prior to his death in 1976.  Janet was a secretary at Lyons High School for 29 years.  After her retirement, she moved to Hutchinson, KS, where she enjoyed playing golf, traveling, and working in her flower garden.

Janet is survived by: daughters, Sherry (Neil) Zimmerman of Houston, TX, and Dianne (Don) Davis of Panorama Village, TX; sisters, Betty Griffen and Mary (Don) Fenton; brother, Jerry (Shirley) LeClair; sisters-in-law, Judy LeClair and Pat (Fred) Barta; grandchildren, Chris (Anne) Schreck, Evan Zimmerman, Randy (Ashley) Zimmerman, and Jennifer Davis; great-grandchildren, Kelsey, Logan, and Megan Schreck.

She was preceded in death by:  her parents; husband, Ronald Fail; brother, Leo LeClair; sister, Geneva Sheffield; brothers-in-law, Bob Griffen and Phil Sheffield.

Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Wednesday, March 4, 2020, at Elliott Mortuary, with The Reverend Richard Brooks officiating.  Interment will follow in Lyons Municipal Cemetery, Lyons, KS.  Friends may call from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday, March 3, 2020, at Elliott Mortuary.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to a charity of the donor’s choice, in care of Elliott Mortuary, 1219 N. Main, Hutchinson, KS 67501.
