Five hospitalized after 2-vehicle crash in Pratt County

PRATT COUNTY — Five people were injured in an accident just after 7 p.m. Saturday in Pratt County.

The Kansas Highway Patrol reported a Ford Taurus driven by 30-year-old Derek L. Jones of St. John was southbound on U.S. 281 twelve miles north of Pratt when Jones lost control of the vehicle. It crossed the centerline and struck a 2012 GMC Sierra driven by 18-year-old Aaron Juarez of Great Bend.

EMS transported Jones, Juarez and passengers in the Sierra, 32-year-old Fatima E. Lopez-Ruyz, 4-year-old Dante R. Vazques, 4, and 43-year-old Nohemi Vasquez all of Great Bend to the hospital in Pratt.

Jones was not wearing a seat belt, according to the KHP.
