HUTCHINSON, Kan. — The Hutchinson Fire Department responded to the 818 East 7th Avenue around 12:20 p.m. for a structure fire. 

First arriving units found a fire in the kitchen of the residence and were able to quickly extinguish the blaze. The fire caused moderate damage to the interior of the house. Fire crews remained on scene for an hour conducting overhaul and investigation. The cause of the fire was unattended cooking. 

There were no injuries reported. Red Cross is assisting the resident.

The fire is under control. One person and two dogs escaped the blaze. The Red Cross was notified to assist the displaced person.
