HUTCHINSON, Kan. — You may be a little unnerved over what has happened in the stock market recently, but just take a deep breath, says a local investment advisor.
"From our standpoint, we don't allow short-term headlines to effect our long-term investment decisions," said Edward Jones Agent Will Thacker in Hutchinson.
Paying attention is fine and expected, but there's no reason to panic.
"I think you should still be good stewards with what's happening in today's markets," Thacker said. "Ultimately, we will want to partner together with our clients to specifically understand their goals and then allow that to be behind investment decisions."
Time is generally your friend when it comes to investing, so the more you have, the less you need to do.
"Obviously, if you are retiring and you know you are going to have withdrawals in the short-term future, that's going to change your investment philosophy. It's different for someone who has twenty plus years until they need the money or need that income from retirement."
It's important that your investment advisor know your individual goals, so if you're feeling anxiety, give them a call to discuss your particular situation.
