HUTCHINSON, Kan. — After a four-year absence, the Hutchinson Corporate Cup is back this summer. The Hutch Rec Foundation is bringing a return this summer event to celebrate the spirit of the Summer Olympics.

The Hutch Rec Foundation is hosting this county-wide corporate challenge event, taking place July 31 through August 2 at various locations in Hutchinson, including Carey Park, Hutchinson Sports Arena, Fun Valley Sports Complex, and Salt City Splash Aquatic Center.

“We know that it’s a popular event within Hutchinson,” Ted Nelson with Hutch Rec said. “We know that a lot of larger businesses love to show that team spirit and a little bit of team building.”

Nelson says right now the tentative plans are to hold the event every two years to coincide with the Olympics.

“The plan looks like it may be every two years from here on out to correspond to the Olympics, Nelson said. “We’re thinking it’s something that hopefully Hutchinson can sustain in a two-year pattern, but we’ll know more this summer.”

This year’s Reno County Corporate Cup will feature 17 events, including the Opening Ceremony and a special CEO Challenge event on July 31, as well as a kickball, sand volleyball, cornhole, pickleball, horseshoes, duathlon, bowling, trivia contest, basketball, soccer, swimming and paddleboard relays, tug-of-war, and more. Corporate Cup will finish on August 2 with the Closing Ceremonies and a private swim party at Salt City Splash Aquatic Center for participants and their families.

Reno County Corporate Cup registration is open to business in Reno County. Teams must have between 16 to 24 employees participating in the 17 events, with a maximum of 12 teams allowed in this year’s Corporate Cup.
