HUTCHINSON, Kan. — The MainStreet Players with Stage 9 in Hutchinson will perform HutchProv this weekend and next.

"It's making everything up on the spot," said Lynsey Becher, host for the shows. "It's been a long training process for the Main Street Players, who are the people who will be performing in each show. We have had about six weeks to really train with improv. Even though it's about making things up, there's actually a lot of rules involved. There's a lot of structure involved and so, they've gotten a nice taste of how difficult improv can actually be."

If you like the television show, Whose Line Is It, Anyway, you'll find the settings familiar.

"Mostly like short games, we're going to have a lot of fun doing all of that stuff," Becher said. "That's exactly what you can expect coming to the show."

In that vein, the evening performances are designed for teenage and older audiences, with the Sunday matinees more geared toward families.

"We have a special student deal, where you can do a buy one, get one free student on Sunday," Becher said. "We are promoting those as a family friendly night, or day, because they are matinee performances at 2 p.m.

Performances are at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Friday and Saturday February 27, 28, 29 and March 5, 6 and 7, with the 2 p.m. matinees on March 1 and 8. Tickets are available at stage9hutch.com and at Apron Strings.
