Alfred ‘Al’ Joseph Werth, 88, of Hutchinson, died February 16, 2020, at Pleasant Hills, Hutchinson. He was born December 13, 1931, in Ness City, to Theodore and Adelaide (Leiker) Werth.

Alfred was a 1949 graduate of Ness City High School and served in the United States Air Force for four years. He retired from Dillon Companies Inc. and was a member of Church of the Holy Cross, Hutchinson. On November 25, 1952, Alfred married Cleo Alice Stoecklein at Sacred Heart Church in Ness City. They shared over 61 years of marriage prior to her death on August 30, 2014.

He is survived by: children, David (Denise) Werth of Salina, Marie (Greg) Dick of Hutchinson, Alan (Susan) Werth of Cincinnati, OH, and Paula Mayes of Hutchinson; brother, Orville ‘Bud’ Werth; grandchildren, Michele (Chris) Lambert, Cheryl Werth, Adam Dick, Jordan (Cadey) Dick, Garrett (Gabby) Werth, Tyler Werth, and Michael (Heidi) Mayes; and ten great-grandchildren.

Alfred was preceded in death by: his parents; wife, Cleo A. Werth; daughter, Denise Marie Werth; grandsons, John Matthew Dick and Blake Werth; sisters, Betty Weigel and Ruby Augustine; and brother, Art Werth.

Parish Rosary will be 9:30 a.m. Friday, February 21, 2020, at Church of the Holy Cross, 2631 Independence Road, Hutchinson. Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 10 a.m. at the church, both officiated by Father Michael Kerschen. Burial will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation with the family present will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, February 19, 2020, at Elliott Mortuary. Friends may call from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday, February 20, 2020, at Elliott Mortuary.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to Church of the Holy Cross or charity of contributor’s choosing, in care of Elliott Mortuary, 1219 N. Main, Hutchinson, KS 67501.
