Council to discuss option for water tower

HUTCHINSON, Kan. — The Hutchinson City Council will go over some options for lights and designs for the West Avenue A water tower during Tuesday’s meeting.

The one million gallon tower is in need of maintenance. Since it will need a new coat of paint, there are some options the council can go over. One is a complete painting of the holding tank in a combination of yellow and blue. Or the tower could be painted a neutral color with the city flag on the side.

The council will also have two options for lighting the tower. The light will be cast onto the pillars of the tower. Just white lights would cost the city $20,000. Lights that could change colors would be $40,000.

The full work on the tower will include recoating the inside and outside of the structure and making any necessary repairs. Tuesday’s meeting of the Hutchinson City Council begins at 9 a.m. in the Hutchinson city offices.
