HUTCHINSON, Kan. — Although they are still in training, officers of the Kansas Law Enforcement Training Center’s (KLETC) 262nd basic training class still found a way to give back to the community before graduation.

The class donated money it collected to Morgan Elementary School Tuesday morning. The donation was part of the class’s legacy project, a project where each basic training class gives back to the community.

“Law enforcement is fundamentally a service profession,” KLETC Executive Director Darin Beck said. “Most officers go into the profession to make a difference in their communities.”

Morgan Elementary was selected because the officers wanted to help those children that needed assistance in paying for school lunches. Principal Bryan Cunningham accepted the donation on behalf of the student body.

The officers posed for photos with students and led the school in the recital of the Pledge of Allegiance before returning to training at KLETC.
