Gary Edward Janzen, 56, of Hutchinson, died January 18, 2020, at his home in Nickerson. He was born December 24, 1963, in Hutchinson, to Elmer and Leona (Drake) Janzen.
Gary graduated from Hutchinson High School in 1982. He was a maintenance supervisor for Home Depot and Interfaith Housing and Community Services, Hutchinson. He loved cars, specifically Chevy’s, and woodworking. Gary was a passionate fan of KU basketball and Chiefs football. He loved spending time with family, especially his grandchildren.
Gary is survived by: daughter, Heather Thompson (Travis, Hutchinson; son, Brandon Janzen (fiancée, Cassie, South Hutchinson; grandchildren, Madisyn, Kamden, and Kason Thompson, and Grayson Janzen, all of Hutchinson; fiancée, Beth Andsager, Nickerson; Beth’s children, Thomas and Shawn Andsager and their spouses; siblings, Jerry Janzen (Debbie, Linda Schreiber, Butch Janzen (Julie, Janet Daniel (Mark, and Susan Tompkins (Ron, all of Hutchinson; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and brother-in-law, Ron Schreiber.
Funeral service will be 10 a.m. Saturday, January 25, 2020, at Elliott Mortuary, Hutchinson, with Pastor Matt Stafford officiating. The family invites those who attend to wear KU or KC Chiefs attire to celebrate Gary. A private family burial will take place at a later date. Friends may call from 2 to 8 p.m. with the family present from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday, at Elliott Mortuary, and 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Friday.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to Interfaith Housing and Community Services or the Home Depot Homer Fund, in care of Elliott Mortuary, 1219 N. Main, Hutchinson, KS 67501.
