Stephen Eugene ‘Steve’ DeBerry, 64, of Hutchinson, died January 16, 2020. He was born May 17, 1955, in Hutchinson, to Eugene and Joan (Gregg) DeBerry.

He was a graduate of Buhler High School. Steve worked as a welder for Farmland Industries and then at Morton Salt Company for 34 years, retiring as a vacuum pan operator. His favorite pastimes were fishing, boating, and playing golf with his friends, Mike and Gary.

Steve is survived by: his wife of 15 years, Gail M. (Wright) DeBerry; sons, Nathan and wife Chris, and Ryan; stepchildren, Mark Long, Jr., Jason Wright, and Jessica Ketner, all of Hutchinson; twin brother, James of Wichita; sisters, Lori Tinnin of Wichita and Mary Lou Shea and husband Timothy of Hutchinson; eight grandchildren; and one great-grandson.

Steve was preceded in death by: his parents, sister, Sherry DeVaul; and stepson, Mark Long, Jr.

Funeral will be 11 a.m. Tuesday, January 21, 2020, at Elliott Chapel, with Pastor Harold Nelson presiding. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation is from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m., with the family present from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at Elliott Mortuary and Crematory, Hutchinson.
