HHS hosting state debate championships

HUTCHINSON, Kan. — Hutchinson High School has always had a great tradition in debate. Now for the first time since 2013, Hutchinson High School is hosting the state competition.

Hundreds of students and their coaches from across Kansas will descend on Hutchinson High School Friday, Jan. 17, and Saturday, Jan. 18, for the annual Kansas State High School Activities Association Class 5A and 6A Debate Tournament. The Class 1A through 4A state tournament will be the same weekend at Fort Scott High School.

Students will compete in both the two-speaker and four-speaker divisions.

The Class 5A and 6A event’s opening assembly begins at 8:15 a.m. Friday, Jan. 17, with rounds beginning at 9 a.m. Friday and continuing at 8 a.m. Saturday.
