Leona Omega Teague, 79, died July 17, 2020, at Hospice House. She was born October 1, 1940, in Mulberry, Kansas, to Walter Hamilton and Ruby (Burke) Hamilton Aten.

Leona attended West High School in Wichita. She worked as a cook and housekeeper. Leona was an avid reader, seamstress, master cook and baker, and loved music and to sing. Her proudest job was the title of ‘MOM’. Leona was a member of New Hope Baptist Church. She was a lifelong follower of Christ, Bible trivia scholar, and continued to be a witness, even as her health declined.

On May 26, 1961, she married Burns Melburn Teague in Medford, OK. They enjoyed 59 years of marriage.

Leona is survived by husband, Burns; children, Rhonda Sample (Robert), Delilah Teague, Annette Hubbs, Gregory Teague (Janet), Alice Schmidt and Kelly Millett (Chris); brother, Marion ‘Pete’ Hamilton; 20 grandchildren; and 32 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; nine siblings; and son-in-law, Lester Hubbs.

Funeral service will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, July 21, 2020, at New Hope Baptist Church, 4815 E. 4th, Hutchinson, with Pastors Brian Lee and Christopher Millett officiating. Burial will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery, Hutchinson. Friends may sign the book from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Monday at Elliott Mortuary. The family will greet friends from 9:30 a.m. until service time Tuesday at the church. 

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to New Hope Baptist Church (for missions) or the Hutchinson Public Library, in care of Elliott Mortuary, 1219 N. Main, Hutchinson, KS 67501.
