HUTCHINSON, Kan. - The weather conditions are expected to be better today but that won’t completely eliminate the wildfire threat in the area.
Several fires were reported across central Kansas on Wednesday including one small fire in the 4800 block of E 23rd in Hutchinson. That fire was quickly brought under control.
In Harvey County, a fire broke out Wednesday afternoon south of Halstead. Fire Chief Jim Vanschaick said the fire charred about 40 acres before they got it contained.
Crews from Halstead, Hesston, Newton, Sedgwick, Burrton and Moundridge helped fight the fire.
