Betty Lou Wyer, 83, of Nickerson, died December 14, 2019, at Hospice House, Hutchinson. She was born July 27, 1936, in Hutchinson, to Clarence and Questa (Smith) Miller.

Betty graduated from Hutchinson High School in 1954. She worked for Central Press, Nickerson State Bank, and the Hutchinson Clinic as a receptionist and office worker. Betty loved reading and sewing and was involved with Mid State Street Rods.

On May 22, 1954, she married Elvin ‘Pee Wee’ Wyer, in Hutchinson. They shared 65 years of marriage together.

Betty is survived by: husband, Elvin ‘Pee Wee’ Wyer, Nickerson; daughters, Kathy Knox, Wichita, Gay Norquist (Bret, Wisconsin, and Molly Taggart (Brandon, Nickerson; granddaughters, Camey Beasley, Nickerson, Julie, Lindsey, and Lacey; numerous great-grandchildren; and sister, Pat Hopengardner, Hutchinson.

She was preceded in death by her parents and brother-in-law, Jim Hopengardner.

Cremation has taken place. Visitation with family present will be 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, December 19, 2019, at Elliott Mortuary. Friends may sign the book from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesday through Thursday.
