HAYS, Kan. - The 19th-ranked Fort Hays State women's basketball scored 20 unanswered points and beat Bethany College 92-40 Wednesday at Gross Coliseum to snap a two-game losing streak.
The 20 unanswered were part of a bigger 27-2 run which saw the Tigers (7-2) build a 25-point lead early in the second quarter.
Kasey Kennett led three Tigers in double-figures with 17 points. The Olathe senior was 5-of-8 from the floor and hit all three of her 3-point attempts. Whitney Randall came off the bench to score 16 and grab six rebounds. Belle Barbieri add 12 points and six boards.
The Tigers forced the Swedes (8-5) into 32 turnovers and turned them into 47 points. FHSU also had 17 offensive rebounds and outscored Bethany 20-0 in second chance points.
The Tigers are off until next Wednesday when they travel to Fort Lauderdale, Fla. to play Harding then Saint Anselm who is 6-0 and ranked sixth in this week's WBCA Poll.
