
Thelma Lorraine Rice, 92, of Hutchinson, died December 8, 2019, at Hospice House, Hutchinson. She was born September 2, 1927, in Kanarado, to Dale and Beulah (Weaver) Berringer.
Thelma worked as a clerk and bookkeeper for J. M. Mcdonald’s department store in Goodland and the First National Bank of Goodland. She attended the Goodland Bible Church for many years.
On October 15, 1943, Thelma married Lester Wayne Rice, in Goodland. They shared 47 years of marriage before his death on March 6, 1991.
She is survived by: son, Roger Rice (Genny, Burrton; daughter, Iris (Rice) Allison, Van Alstyne, Texas; grandchildren, Darren Allison (Kim, Brad Allison (Teri, Michelle Powers (Donald, Stacy Smith (Scott, Kimberly Rice, Lisa Rogers, Jason Coughlin (Candy, Dena Piontkowski, John Coughlin (Nikki); 26 great-grandchildren; and seven great-great-grandchildren.
Thelma was preceded in death by: her parents; husband, Lester Rice; sisters, Velma Gorrell, Irma Hase, and Vivian David; brothers, Bill and Max Berringer; and son-in-law, Dee Allison.
Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Mountain Standard Time, Saturday, December 14, 2019, at Koons-Russell Funeral Home, 211 Main Street, Goodland, KS 67735, with Pastor Tim Kraft officiating. Burial will follow in the City of Goodland Cemetery. Friends may call from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Friday, with the family present from 6 to 8 p.m. at Elliott Mortuary, 1219 N. Main, Hutchinson.
