Anna V. Hostutler, 96, of Hutchinson, entered the arms of her Lord and Savior December 1, 2019, peacefully at home surrounded by family. She was born March 22, 1923, in Pittsburgh, PA, to John and Mary (Shamack) Visokay.
Anna joined the US Army in January 1944. She served as driver and parts clerk in the motor pool. Anna received the rank of corporal and received the Good Conduct Medal, the American Theater Campaign Medal and the WWII Victory Medal upon discharge. While serving, she met and married Jack Hostutler. After being discharged, they began their married life and had six children.
Anna worked for the Hutchinson newspaper as a proofreader and general office worker and retired after 39 years of service at the age of 79. She loved her job and the people she worked with. Anna often baked cakes and brownies for her coworkers.
She was a member of the American Legion Post No. 68 and Amvets Post No. 11. Anna loved dancing to big band swing and polka music, bowling, cooking, playing bingo, reading, and traveling to family events.
She was a devout member of St. Teresa Catholic Church, Hutchinson, for many years. Anna was the prayer warrior for her family and friends, beginning and ending every day in prayer, covering each person with her love.
She is survived by: sons, John and Marc Hostutler, Hutchinson; daughters, Catherine ‘Cass’ Sims (Patrick) and Martha ‘Marty’ Kenyon (Rick, Hutchinson; daughter, Laura Noyes, Andover; grandchildren, Paul and Ryan Sims, Jennifer Wymer (Matthew, Heather Hostutler, Justin Kenyon, Taylor Vanlerberg (R.J., Andrew Noyes (Jessica, Ashley Noyes, and Kendra Barnes; great-grandchildren, Casey and Madison Roberts, Jaylie and Mason Wymer, Brooks and Ryder Noyes, Sammuel Krummrey, Britney Hostutler, Gatlin Sutherland, and Slade Pearce; great-great-granddaughter, Paityn Hume; and sister, Evelyn Tener, (PA).
Anna was preceded in death by: her parents; daughter, Kim Hostutler; granddaughter, Angela D. (Sims) Roberts; brothers, John and Michael Anton; sisters, Beatrice Chiodo , Mary Visokay, Betty Bosco and Trudy Barnard; and son-in-law Marc Noyes.
Parish Rosary will be 9:30 a.m., followed by Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 a.m. Thursday, December 5, 2019, at St. Teresa Catholic Church, 211 E. 5th Ave., with Father Michael J. Maybrier officiating. Burial will follow in Fairlawn Burial Park, with military honors conducted by the Fort Riley Honor Guard. Friends may call from 1-8 p.m. Wednesday, with family present from 5-7 p.m. at Elliott Mortuary.
