Billy Neville Baldauf, 95, of Hutchinson, died November 19, 2019, at Thorne Care Center, Hutchinson. He was born December 15, 1923, in Newton County, Missouri, to John H. and Ethel (Scrogin) Baldauf.

Billy graduated from Baxter Springs High School in 1942. He served in the United States Marine Corps from 1942 to 1945. Billy owned and operated the B&B Superette grocery store in Haven for 17 years, and retired from the United States Department of Agriculture as a meat inspector after 20 years of service. He was a lifetime member of the American Legion Lysle Rishel Post #68, Veterans of Foreign Wars Post #1361, and a longtime member of the Haven United Methodist Church.


On May 29, 1946, Billy married Dorothy Nell Hill in Columbus, KS. They shared over 73 years of marriage.


He is survived by: wife, Dorothy Baldauf of Hutchinson; sons, Robert (Mary) Baldauf of Wichita, H. Gregg (Karen) Baldauf of Hutchinson; daughter, Kay (Steven) Neill of Emporia; six grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.

Billy was preceded in death by: his parents; sister, Peggy O’Bryant; and brothers, Jack and Joe Baldauf.


Funeral service will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday, November 23, 2019, at Haven United Methodist Church, Haven, with Pastor Janet Sutter and The Reverend Richard Brooks officiating. Burial will follow in Laurel Cemetery, Haven. Military Honors will be conducted by the United States Marine Corps Honors Team. Friends may sign the book from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Friday at Elliott Mortuary, and 9:30 a.m. until service time Saturday at Haven United Methodist Church.
