HUTCHINSON, Kan. — Reno County residents will soon have local access to specialized care for heart rhythm disorders through a new partnership between Via Christi and Hutchinson Regional Medical Center.
The Ascension Via Christi Electrophysiology outreach clinic will begin seeing patients June 18 at Hutchinson Regional Medical Center. The clinic will operate from 8:30 to 11:30 a.m. on the third Thursday of each month.
Dr. Olakanmi Olagoke, a cardiac electrophysiologist, will lead the clinic. The outreach program will provide diagnosis, consultation and follow-up care for patients with arrhythmias, which are conditions caused by issues with the heart’s electrical system.
The clinic will serve patients with conditions including atrial fibrillation, commonly known as AFib; tachycardia, or a fast heart rate; bradycardia, or a slow heart rate; and syncope, or fainting.
“Effective management of heart rhythm disorders relies on early diagnosis and consistent follow-up,” Olagoke said. “By bringing these specialized consultation services to Hutchinson, we can more effectively manage patients’ cardiac conditions and provide individualized support closer to home.”
Specialized electrophysiology procedures will continue to be performed at Via Christi St. Francis in Wichita. However, the Hutchinson clinic will allow patients to receive consultations and manage their ongoing care locally, reducing the need to travel to Wichita for routine appointments.
“Expanding access to specialized cardiac care is a significant step forward for the health of our community,” Hutchinson Regional Medical Center President and CEO Benjamin Anderson said. “By partnering with Dr. Olagoke and Via Christi, we are ensuring that Reno County residents can receive expert diagnostic and follow-up care right here on our campus.”
Anderson said the partnership will reduce the travel burden for patients while supporting the hospital’s goal of providing comprehensive care for families in the region.
The clinic is accepting referrals and scheduling patients. Those interested in receiving care should speak with their doctor about a referral. Additional information is available by calling 316-274-8250.
