Jerry Max Franklin |1935-2021|

Jerry Max Franklin, 86, died June 25, 2021, in the emergency room at Hutchinson Regional Medical Center.  He was born May 10, 1935, in Oklahoma City, OK, to Arthur and Ernestine (Ayres) Franklin, Sr.

Jerry graduated from Lewisville High School, Lewisville, AR, in 1954.  He then proudly served in the United States Army Reserve.  Following Jerry’s service to our country, he was involved in the skate business for 26 years.  Jerry first owned Skatemor on 30th Street, followed by Harvest Skate Center in South Hutchinson. He then worked for seven years as the Reno County Clerk and Election Officer.  Jerry was a member of the Prairie Pups Motorcycle Club, and enjoyed coffee and conversation at Spangles with his friends.  He was a devoted father and grandfather, and will be greatly missed by his family.

Jerry is survived by:  children, Jon Franklin of South Hutchinson, Julie Franklin-Almadani of Colorado Springs, CO, Jessica Franklin-Jackson (Jonathan) of Johnstown, CO; grandchildren, Allison, Zachary, Zia, Jaiden, Hunter, and London; and half-sister, Waltina.

He was preceded in death by:  his mother and stepfather, Jack and Ernestine VanBuren; his father and stepmother, Arthur and Louise Franklin; and brothers, Arthur, Jr., and James Franklin.

Friends may sign his book from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Monday through Saturday at Elliott Mortuary, 1219 N. Main, Hutchinson, KS  67501. 

A celebration of life will be announced at a later date, in the spring of 2022.
