🏀 MBB: Dragons struggle on road

COLBY, Kan. — Hutchinson (9-6, 4-5) used the first five minutes Saturday to build a five-point lead on the Trojans (4-10, 2-6).

From there, it was all Colby.

The Trojans used a 10-0 run in the first half to secure a 44-35 advantage at the break.

Giannis Asimakopoulos scored 15 of his team-high 21 in the first 20 minutes.

Asimakopoulos came into the game with eight made three-pointers on the season. He was shooting only 20% from distance. He hit 4-of-5 from deep against the Dragons.

Three players came off the bench for Colby and scored in double figures.

Asimakopoulos led the way with 21 while Aliou Diallo added 17 and D.J. Cason chipped in 12.

The Trojan bench outscored Hutchinson's bench 56-10.

The Dragons made things interesting late with full-court pressure.

Colby led by 19 with 4:32 left, but the Dragons battled back within five with 42.6 seconds remaining.

Bobby Canon missed a three-pointer with 33 seconds left and Colby closed out the game at the line by hitting 5-of-6 to close the contest.

Kyrell Shaw led the Dragons with 32 points.

Daleron Thomas scored 20 in his first start of the season for Hutchinson.

The Dragons return to the Sports Arena Wednesday, Jan. 7, to face Coffeyville at 7:30 p.m.
