
On Monday, March 28 at about 7:30 p.m., Barton County Sheriff’s Office deputies conducted a traffic stop near the intersection of Lakin Avenue and Polk Street in the City of Great Bend.
The 2017 Ford Edge was stopped for a traffic violation. The driver was identified as James Perkins, age 65 of Larned.
During the course the investigation, a K9 unit was called from the Pawnee County Sheriff’s Office and alerted officers to a controlled substance in the vehicle. Methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia were discovered in the vehicle.
Perkins was arrested and transported to the Barton County Jail where he was booked on requested charges of possession of methamphetamine and possession of drug paraphernalia. He has since posted a $10,000 bond and was released.
