Larry L Schmid, 82, died on October 19, 2020, at Hospice House, Hutchinson, KS. He was born July 28, 1938, in Herigton, KS, the son of Henry and Dora (Weber) Schmid.
On December 18, 1981 he married Janet S. Moshier in Hutchinson. She precedes him in death. Larry worked as a switchman for Southern Pacific retiring in 2006 after 49 years. Larry and his brother started a squirrel corn business and sold squirrel corn to many farm supply stores. He also enjoyed woodworking. Larry was a member of Our Redeemer Lutheran Church.
Larry was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Janet; a twin sister, Betty Crane; a brother, DeVerne Schmid; and a daughter, Michele Fry.
Survivors include his daughters, Denise Wilson (Roger Levasseur), Tracy Tanley (George Keene) and Cindy Tanley; nine grandchildren, Breann Fry, Ryan Spitler, Emmanuel Torres, Dylan Wilson, Jayce Fry, Kylee (Rob) Mies, Jeran Fry, Erin (Miles) Beach and Duncan Lee; one great granddaughter, Anastaria Haynes.
Funeral Service will be held at 11 a.m., Monday, October 26, 2020 at Hutchinson Funeral Chapel, 300 E. 30th Ave., Hutchinson, KS, with Pastor Quentin Nuttmann officiating. Visitation will be held on Monday, October 26, 2020 from 10:30 a.m. to 11 a.m. at the funeral home. Burial will take place in Memorial Park Cemetery, Hutchinson, KS. In lieu of flower memorials may be given to the Hospice House and can be sent in care of Hutchinson Funeral Chapel.
