Sheriff's office posts about rural vehicle thefts

RENO COUNTY — The Reno County Sheriff's Office reported on Facebook Monday that they have had some stolen vehicles lately in the far western part of the county. Valuables, including keys, have been left behind.

"We know things happen and keys can be forgotten or in some cases, folks feel like since they are so rurally located, they won’t be a victim of a vehicle theft," the Sheriff's Office said. "Unfortunately, thieves are counting on this and will take advantage of the circumstances."

The Sheriff's office is asking all residents to take your keys out of your vehicles, including your farm trucks & equipment.

If you see anything suspicious, please call 911.

If you have any information about the recent thefts give the Sheriff's Office a call at 620-694-2735 or call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS, where you can remain anonymous.
