HUTCHINSON, Kan. — Congressman Tracey Mann was in Hutchinson Thursday for a town hall at the Hutchinson Public Library.
"A lot of people share my concerns with the direction of the country right now," Mann said. "We led off by talking about Afghanistan, the debacle that is. A complete lack of a plan, lack of leadership. Also, a lot of people concerned with the spending that we see and also potentially forced vaccination, something that I oppose strongly and will fight, tooth and nail."
Mann doesn't support endless wars, but the end to this one was handled badly, in his opinion.
"It should have been a conditional withdrawal that prioritized getting our American citizens out, the interpreters and people that have helped us out and then our equipment," Mann said. "What we've seen here is a complete operational and intelligence failure. People need to be held accountable to that and now the priority needs to be, how do we get the 10,000 to 15,000 Americans out of there as soon as possible."
Mann noted that he isn't hearing anything in Congress about passing a mandate law, but rather tying vaccination to money.
"These aren't things that are going through Congress," Mann said. "These are things that agencies are requiring of federal employees so far and now we're starting to see, we're also seeing the military, the VA, but now we're seeing other agencies come out and saying that entities or groups that get federal funds might also be susceptible to these requirements. The government's provided a vaccine, we provide information, the government's provided information about it. It's now up to free adults, free Americans to decide if they want to get a vaccine or not."
