⚾ Tulsa Drillers rally to defeat Wichita Wind Surge

WICHITA, Kan. – The Tulsa Drillers scored nine unanswered runs and defeated Wichita 9-8 in the series opener.

The Wind Surge stormed out to a great start scoring four first inning runs. Patrick Winkle started the scoring with a two run triple and Alex Isola followed with a two run home run. Wichita added runs in second and the fourth to extend the lead to 6-0.

Blayne Enlow dominated early pitching four innings and allowed a hit and punched out nine hitters. The Drillers offense broke out in the fifth inning and knocked Enlow out after retiring one hitter. Diego Cartaya hit a two run home run to put the Drillers on the board. Enlow picked up strikeout number ten and then the Drillers took advantage of an error. Tulsa added a three run home run from Imanol Vargas.

Tulsa scored a pair of runs in the eighth inning to take the lead with a Brandon Lewis RBI single. Brayden Fisher earned the win and Francis Peguero took the loss.

NOTES: The Drillers lead the 2023 Propeller Series five games to two. Yunior Severino hit his 11th home run of the season tied for second in the league.

UPCOMING – The Wichita Wind continue the home series against the Tulsa Drillers on Wednesday night at 7:05. RH Carlos Luna will face RH Kyle Hurt.
