Suspect in Kan. barber shop parking lot shooting turns himself in

GEARY COUNTY —Law enforcement authorities investigating the fatal Friday shooting in Junction City of 23-year-old  Lavincent Perdue of Grandview Plaza have made an arrest.

Just before 4p.m. Friday, police responded to the Elite Cuts Barbershop in reference to shots that had been fired, according to Police Captain Cory Odell

Upon arrival officers located Perdue suffering from gunshot wounds. EMS transported him to Geary Community Hospital where he died.

On Saturday police reported the arrest of 21-year-old  Willie Powell Jr., from Grandview Plaza, on a requested charge of 2nd-degree murder. Powell was taken into custody after turning himself into the Topeka Police Department early Saturday morning.

Powell is being held at the Geary County Detention Center pending his first appearance. The shooting incident occurred primarily in the parking lot of the business and there were no other injuries, according to Odell. This is the first homicide this year in Junction City
