
HUTCHINSON, Kan. — Three people were arrested Friday following a drug investigation by the Reno County Drug Enforcement Unit and the Reno County Detective Division.
According to authorities, investigators executed a search warrant around 1:10 p.m. April 17 at a residence in the 900 block of North Plum Street in Hutchinson. During the search, detectives reported finding distribution quantities of multiple illicit drugs along with drug paraphernalia.
Marcy Currie and Benjamin Dick were taken into custody at the scene and transported to the Reno County Correctional Facility. Both face charges including possession of K2, possession of methamphetamine, possession of drug paraphernalia with intent to distribute, and possession of drug paraphernalia. Dick was also booked on two failure to appear warrants through Hutchinson Municipal Court.
A third suspect, Brenden Smith, was also arrested. He faces a series of charges, including distribution of fentanyl and methamphetamine within 1,000 feet of a school, distribution of drug paraphernalia, felony interference, possession of methamphetamine, possession of marijuana, and possession of drug paraphernalia. Smith was additionally booked on a Reno County District Court warrant for a probation violation.
All three individuals were booked into the Reno County Correctional Facility.
Authorities emphasize that all suspects are presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in a court of law. Charges may be amended by the District Attorney’s Office as the case proceeds.
