NEWTON, Kan. — Fire crews responded to a structure fire early Friday morning in the 500 block of East 8th Street in Newton, bringing the situation under control within a short time.
According to responders, crews were dispatched at approximately 8:15 a.m. and initiated a rapid interior attack upon arrival. Firefighters were able to contain the flames to the room where the fire originated, preventing further spread throughout the home.
No injuries were reported among the homeowners, pets, or emergency personnel.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
