
Chad Wiechen, 46, passed away September 4, 2020, at Hutchinson Regional Medical Center. He was born May 22, 1974, in Hutchinson, to Bill and Connie (Bethe) Wiechen.
Chad graduated from Hutchinson High School in 1992. He worked as a maintenance/press supervisor for 27 years at American Packaging Corporation, South Hutchinson. Chad was an active participant in Mid America Ford & Shelby Nationals, and loved to drive fast. He was a hard worker, who never quit and fought until the end. Even when Chad had days off, you could still find him at American Packaging Corporation. He was known by his colleagues and family as a ‘tough man with a soft heart’.
On August 13, 2005, he married Melynda Hjerpe in Hutchinson. They shared a love of travel and Ford Mustangs.
Chad is survived by wife, Melynda of Nickerson; children, Jasmyne Wiechen (fiancée, Kelby Brubaker) of South Hutchinson, Kayla Burk, and Kyle Burk of Nickerson; one grandson, Aries Brubaker; mother, Connie Wiechen; brothers, Troy, Tracy, and Tim Krebbs, all of Hutchinson; and his beloved dog, Fizzy Wiechen.
He was preceded in death by his father, Bill Wiechen.
Funeral service will be 2:00 p.m. Saturday, September 12, 2020, at Elliott Chapel. Per Chad’s wishes, cremation will follow his service. Friends may call from 9:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. Thursday and Friday, with the family present from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Friday at Elliott Mortuary.
