Alvin Ray Lyon, 85, died August 6, 2022, at Hutchinson Health and Rehab. He was born March 2, 1937, in Sterling, to Roy A. and Ruby M. (Strait) Lyon.
Alvin graduated from Buhler High School in 1957. He served 9 years in the Kansas Army National Guard. Alvin worked for Midwest Iron and Metal for over 30 years and then 13 years as a mechanic for the city of Hutchinson until he retired. He loved camping and fishing. Alvin was a member of Countryside Baptist Church, where he served as a deacon and an usher.
On November 10, 1957, Alvin married Louise Ford, in Hutchinson. She survives.
Also surviving are: his children, Betty Dilling (Don) of Pratt, Sheryl Lyon, Dennis Lyon (Stacey), Bob Lyon, and Susan Ratzlaff (Tony) all of Hutchinson; 12 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; 6 great-great-grandchildren; and many extended family members.
He was preceded in death by: his parents; a brother, Milton; and a sister, Marilyn Pritchard.
Funeral service will be 10 a.m. Thursday, August 11, 2022, at Countryside Baptist Church, 819 W. 30th Ave. Hutchinson. Burial will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery with military honors conducted by the Kansas Army National Guard Honor Guard.
Visitation will be 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Wednesday at Elliott Mortuary. The family will receive friends 6-8 p.m. Wednesday at the church.
